Wholesome Chicken Nuggets

Wholesome Chicken Nuggets

Nope, that was not a typo. Your favorite fitness personality is indeed sending you a recipe for Chicken Nuggets! However, these are not your typical nuggets…

Most chicken nuggets are less about chicken and more about fillers, additives and artificial ingredients. Add to that the cooking method of choice is most often a vat of frying oil, and you can see why nuggets aren’t often classified as healthy!

This recipe is a complete departure from commercial nuggets. Made simply using real chicken breast, ground almonds and fresh seasonings, these tasty nuggets are then baked to perfection in the oven. So you can feel free to serve this recipe to your family as a part of a balanced meal with zero guilt and 100% enjoyment.

Eat A Colorful Plate

Eat A Colorful Plate

We are a product of what we eat.  Far too often we lack balance. Not enough protein, too much sugar, not enough fruits and veggies and the nutrient gaps widen quickly.

Homework:  Next time you sit down to eat, Just look down at your plate of food. What color do you see?

Many times, all you'll see is one color. Usually brown, white or a very bland color. Not good, Right?

Quick Tip:  Eat A Colorful Plate. What I mean by that is pick a balanced assortment of fruits, veggies, lean proteins , fats and carbohydrates to put on your plate to eat. Especially pick dark green, leafy veggies, red, purple, orange, yellow and not just white and brown.

It's Simple, but Not Easy!  But I know you can do it!!!

If you are deficient in one or more nutrients and need to fill the gaps, click here.

A Visual Reminder

A Visual Reminder

See the complications caused by being overweight and obese?  This is a visual reminder that our health is important.

“This image shows a 250 lb woman on the left and a 120 lb woman on the right. We can see weight gain from the outside, but we usually can’t see what it’s doing on the inside. Look at the fat surrounding the organs in the woman on the left. Do you also see the fat around her heart and around her brain? A little scary, isn’t it? Look at the compression around the stomach and internal organs. Do you think that would have any impact on GERD and indigestion? Look at the compressed knee joints. Do you think those joints ache a little more than they should?”

WOW!!  That’s eye opening!  People every day are dying from diseases caused or worsened by poor choices and obesity.  Is that cheeseburger, chocolate cake, French fries, etc...worth it?

Moringa Message: Vitamins Made In Factories vs Made In Nature

Moringa Message: Vitamins Made In Factories vs Made In Nature

Dr. Monica Marcu is noted worldwide for her expertise on Moringa, as she has decades of experience in studying a variety of plants. Her study and research of Moringa is incorporated in her book Miracle Tree, a long-time favorite of Zija Independent Distributors. As a member of the Zija Product Advisory Council, she will be sharing her expertise and findings on Moringa. Below she explains the benefits of using Moringa as a "plant multivitamin."

In recent years science and health care professionals have started to understand how a nutrient-rich diet, mostly based on fresh plants, contributes to overall health.

But generally, the medical schools teach very little on nutrition and healthy diet. Add to this perpetually changing trends and contradictory messages on what is healthy or not, and one realizes why there is so much confusion about topics such as doses and sources for best vitamins and minerals.

There is a multitude of vitamin supplements on the market but how can one select the best, when few studies have compared them, while others have shown poor quality or discordance between pill content and label? It is true that in a perfect world, with fresh and wholesome foods available to all, as well as time and knowledge to cook properly or enjoy raw plants whenever possible, we would not need supplements.

With a healthy farming soil (unfortunately disappearing faster and faster around the world) and proper methods of cultivation we could obtain crops loaded with nutrients, but this is not the norm today.

Many studies have shown serious depletion of minerals from agricultural soil, without which plants cannot achieve normal content of nutrients or beneficial substances to supply us and animals. Long term nutrition with such deficient plants (or animals) cannot sustain a healthy body, the myriad of biological processes and reactions requiring specific amounts of this or that mineral or vitamin. That spells health trouble – manifesting with various symptoms on the short or long term.

For instance, vitamin C deficiency has a diffuse, non-specific symptomatology first (related to immune system, skin, mucosa) but if not corrected in time can lead to scurvy – a deadly disease. Unfortunately, most of us suffer from complex and difficult to characterize depletion of multiple nutrients, with various degrees of severity for each nutrient. Therefore it is imperative that we include the best sources of complex nutrients (oftentimes while limiting the caloric intake) - those superfoods like moringa, on a regular basis in our diet.

There is no danger of potentially dangerous overload of vitamins when eating plants, and that is a big difference from man-made supplements. By ingesting valuable sources of complex nutrients like moringa we allow our own bodies to absorb and utilize according to their needs selected vitamins or minerals needed at any particular time. Under certain medical circumstances there is value in administrating large doses of certain nutrients. For instance iron can be injected for serious anemia, while vitamins C or B1 can be injected as well for fast benefits in depleted patients.

But how did these people arrive to be so seriously ill that they needed injectable nutrients, when these should be obtained from food? Well, by ingesting less than needed over long periods of time. So in order to preserve normal health and immune resilience we should strive to supply all necessary vitamins, minerals and other nutrients regularly with our diet.

No matter how well a man-made multivitamin is, it can lead to nutrients imbalances on the long run, since the doses are arbitrarily established and every consumer has different needs for particular nutrients.

In addition, many lab-synthesized substances do not coincide with their natural counterparts, and cannot be absorbed and used by cells properly. That is a waste! One can think the supplements protect and supply vital nutrients, but they mostly do not work as expected. The best solution, time -tested and biologically viable in all species is to use vitamin- and mineral-rich plants or natural foods for long term health.

Since plants like moringa are now more and more available around the world we are offered nature’s best multivitamin, with flexibility in cooking, packaging or transportation. In addition, Moringa oleifera is grown generally without the use of dangerous fertilizers or chemicals, is not genetically modified (to include insect genes that produce proteins with allergenic potential), but is rather found in the native, natural form of the tree, as grown for millennia. Besides the useful fats, proteins, vitamins and minerals found in the “miracle tree”, even more miraculous is the high content and complexity of antioxidant, anti-aging substances that only plants can produce.

While there is no daily dose of any of these yet established, we know that their health-supporting potential is inestimable and precious. No man-made multivitamin has been manufactured to mimic this or come even close to moringa’s antioxidant capacity.
